WHERE HAVE I BEEN?

I don't know sometimes.

Life is pretty intense right now. Do you ever feel like you are living in an insane asylum and just down the street is a place where all the normal people go and you just don't know about it?

Me too!

So, my question to you today is - what is your favorite thing to do to alleviate stress? What do YOU do for YOURSELF? I can't take away my responsibilities. I can't change the number of hours Jason is gone or the fact that I don't ever get a break - but there has got to be something I can do to take the PRESSURE off.

What do you do? Please tell me - cause I really want to know.

Hi Maren, what I do to release my stress is after I put my kids to bed I park my butt on the couch for about an hour or so and veg in front of the TV. I don't have TV time durning the day and I am running around like a taxi, getting homework done, dinner, baths, ect...you know how that all works. So I feel like if I can veg for an hour I get my energy back and my stress level is lower.

My favorite stress releaser is a long, hot shower in the dark after the kids are in bed. (sometimes I will bring a small stereo in the bathroom and turn on music.) I know that sounds strange but I get to think about anything I want or not even think at all. I will take a shower untill the hot water runs out and then I am usually calmed down and ready for bed. I also do this when I am not feeling well. You should see our water bill when I am REALLY stressed out! By the way I think your really great!!!!

Don't let Cassie kid you. When she gets stressed all she wants to do is be romantic. She just wants me...

You wish Nelo - That's the last thing she wants - it's the last thing any woman wants. I will have to try the shower thing though - that sounds good - but aren't you too tired to stand ? ? ?

I've been stressed out lately, too, and finally realized that trying harder doesn't usually help so I stopped trying for a week and a half and read the entire Twilight series. My house is still messy, dinner is still a crap-shoot, but I'm just smiling like an idiot thinking about whether Bella's going to pick Edward or Jacob...aaahhh! So I guess my answer to your question is READING.

I go on a long run and literally get lost!

Hey, Maren
I found your blog from Keisha. My favorite thing, as someone else already mentioned, is to take a shower too. It is so bad that I have a little seat in there and sometimes I bring my book in there with me. I too have had a stressful life lately and seems as though there is no break. I guess I dont have much to offer except that I am in the boat with you.

This is great - Keep them coming. Stacy - I knew we were kindred spirits - Edward & Bella - reading - you are speaking my language my friend. I'm with the vampires of course. :0)

I do the shower thing...or a bath. Same as Cassie too. It's always in the dark...all I have to give a little light is my glade plug-in. I love it and it totally relaxes me...and I always feel so clean and refreshed. It's amazing what "more then a 2 minute shower" can do!

Mine involves chocolate and Andrea Bocelli. I've gone for a really long walk, with some form of chocolate in my pocket and a CD of Bocelli blaring in my ears. Probably isn't the healthiest, but it makes me happy. I've done the bath and/or shower thing too with the door locked and lights dimmed.

I don't think I should tell you mine. I don't think it will help you feel any better. My second favorite is to a toss up between Rosa's takeout and a movie or a Suns game with Kent, and a book. But since there is seldom time to sit and read, I love a book on tape. Harry Potter is always a summer favorite. You can't beat escaping into an imaginary world with Jim Dale.

P.S. Hang in there. Wish I could come up there for a week and help you out. Kent said the same thing today..something along the lines of wishing we had some extra cash so I could fly somewhere and get "away." He said, "Wouldn't you have fun up at Maren's?" Sweet, I know. For now, we'll just have to "hang out" blog style. Loves!

Reading...of course. I put the kiddies to bed and stay up till my eyes are burning and they can't stay open. Lucky for me though, my kids sleep in past 9 usually...
